The authors present their first experience
with preparation Phlogenzym in the complex treatment of secretory
otitis. Phlogenzym is a combined enzyme preparation with
antiedematous, antiphlogistic, fibrinolytic and immunomodulatory
effects.
34 patients, aged 4-18 years, after paracentesis with suction were
observed. 20 patients were administered with Phlogenzym (group P) in
addition to the usual treatment for 3 month. Control group - 14
patients (group K) received the usual treatment only. Tympanometric
curve B changed into type A in 49 % of P group patients in
comparison with 39 % of the group K. Physicians evaluated the final
effect of the treatment as a complete healing in 46 % of the group P
compared to 39 % of the group K. In the group P, 75 % of children
occurred evident decrease of morbidity as compared with 13 % in the
group K. The tolerance of Phlogenzym was very good.
Thus, Phlogenzym can be a suitable part of secretory otitis
treatment improving its efficiency.
